Frequently Asked Questions

How to take it?

For faster absorption into your bloodstream put 2ml under your tongue. You can also add it to any drink, there is no wrong or right way of taking our tinctures!

What is a 1:3 Ratio?

This ratio refers to the amount of dried mushroom fruiting body compared to the amount of liquid used. The second number represents the amount of liquid per one gram of mushroom. The lower the second number is, the more potent the extract.

1:3 ratio means 1g of mushrooms is used to make 3ml of tincture.

Why is the liquid form more effective for mushroom supplement absorption?

Liquid extracts make the bioactive compounds in mushrooms more readily available to the body compared to powders or capsules. This format allows for quicker and easier absorption, enhancing their therapeutic benefits.

What is bioavailability?

When mushrooms are consumed directly, they pass through the digestive system as insoluble fibre. The beneficial compounds are locked within their cell walls and must be extracted under specific conditions to become bioavailable—meaning the body can effectively absorb and utilise them. That’s why extraction is essential.

What is Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction?

Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction (UAE) is a technique that uses ultrasonic waves to break down the cell wall of the mushroom, increasing the release of active compounds at lower temperatures. This process makes the extraction process more efficient, by increasing the extract’s potency and absorption rates.

How often should I consume my tincture?

For best results, we recommend taking our tinctures daily. Research suggests that a regular low dose (2ml) can lead to long-term health benefits.

Is there alcohol in my tincture?

Yes, all of our tinctures are 30% alcohol. Most functional mushrooms contain beneficial compounds that are alcohol soluble, so we use alcohol in our extraction process to ensure we produce a full-spectrum extract.

How to store my tincture?

The alcohol in our extracts makes our tinctures more stable, so you can store them in a cool, dark place for up to 2 years.

Contraindications and Safety

Not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have a medical condition or are taking medication, we recommend consulting your doctor to check for any potential interactions.

Learn more about our Turkey Tail mushroom tincture

This colourful mushroom, as the name suggests, is considered the most researched functional mushroom in the world. In Japan it is used alongside standard cancer treatment to strengthen the immune system, while in China it is used to treat lung diseases. Most notably one of the active compounds found in Turkey Tail, the protein-bound polysaccharide K (PSK), when given as an adjuvant to chemotherapy, is an approved medicine in Japan. Studies have demonstrated its potent effect on the immune system, by  increasing Natural Killer Cell activities and promoting anti-tumour action, in gastric, breast, lung, colorectal and other types of cancers. In a study done on the effects of Turkey Tail and Reishi on HPV virus, it showed 83% increase in the clearing of the virus in just two months.

It’s a wonderful addition to your daily routine, especially in the winter months when our immune system needs an extra boost.  You can add it to your morning brew or evening cuppa, or simply put a few drops under your tongue for fast and efficient absorption, either way our liquid extracts are highly absorbable.

Unlocking the medicinal properties of mushrooms requires a carefully controlled extraction process that preserves their integrity. Our Turkey Tail tincture undergoes a triple extraction process, enhanced by Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction, ensuring you get a highly bioavailable tincture containing the full spectrum of beneficial compounds.
